The ultimate mess-free alternative to fried eggs. Perfectly shaped, consistently cooked, and no frying pan required.
Sometimes you just want a simple, perfect egg without the fuss of vegetables or the oil splatter of a frying pan. Cooking eggs directly in ramekins (or silicone cups) in the air fryer is the cleanest way to get a “fried” egg result with a beautiful, tender white and a yolk cooked exactly how you like it.
Prep time: 1 minute
Cook time: 5–8 minutes
Serves: 1–2 people
Ingredients
2 Country Lane Foods Eggs
A tiny knob of butter or a quick spray of oil (to grease the ramekins)
Seasoning: Salt and cracked black pepper to taste
Equipment
Air Fryer
2 small ramekins or oven-safe silicone egg cups
Method
1. Prep the Ramekins
Lightly grease the inside of each ramekin with a little butter or oil spray. This is key for ensuring the egg slides out easily if you want to serve it on toast.
2. The Crack
Carefully crack one Country Lane Foods egg into each ramekin. Try to keep the yolk whole. Season the top with a tiny pinch of salt and pepper.
3. The Air Fryer Cook
Place the ramekins directly into the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 180°C.
5 Minutes: For a classic “sunny side up” result with a very runny yolk.
6–7 Minutes: For a “jammy” yolk (set around the edges but soft in the middle).
8 Minutes: For a fully set, firm egg.
4. Serve
Carefully remove the ramekins using an oven mitt or tongs. You can serve them exactly as they are—perfect for eating with a spoon—or run a small knife around the edge and slide the egg onto a breakfast muffin or piece of toast.
Recipe Variations
The “Baked” Style: Add 1 teaspoon of water or cream to the ramekin before cracking the egg in for a more delicate, steamed texture.
Herb Infusion: Finely chop some fresh parsley or tarragon and sprinkle it over the egg before sliding the basket in.
Pantry Pantry: Add a tiny sprinkle of smoked paprika or garlic salt for an extra flavour kick.
Top Tips for Success
Don’t Preheat: There is no need to preheat your air fryer for this recipe. Starting from cold helps the whites set more evenly without the edges becoming “rubbery.”
Know Your Ramekin: Ceramic ramekins hold heat longer than silicone cups. If using ceramic, remember the egg will continue to cook slightly for a minute after you take it out!
The Perfect Slide: If you want to use these for a breakfast sandwich, make sure you grease the ramekin right up to the rim to prevent the white from sticking as it rises.
